History

Seventh-day Adventist publications were sold in Bangkok as early as 1906 by evangelists from Singapore and they discovered a group of people who kept the Sabbath. As a result, two missionaries were sent in 1919 and a Sabbath School was established in the home of Mr. Tan Thiam Tsua, and Bible study meetings continued until 1921 when they rented a building on Si Phraya Road for use as a place of worship.[2] The missionaries also established schools in Ban Pong and Bangkok. Although the majority of the early members were Thai Chinese, the first Thai was baptized in 1925. A second mission was established in Ubol. Clinics were built in Phuket and Haad Yai. In 1962, they began their first Thai language radio broadcast operations.[3]

Membership

The church started with 14 members in 1919 and increased to 100 by 1947, 500 members in 1958, and up to one thousand members by 4 October 1964.
